Professional Translation Services

Hello speech bubbles in different languages

Syntacta Translation and Interpreting was set up in 2000 as a branch of the University of Bath, one of the UK’s most recognised and well-regarded higher education institutions. With a network of over 600 linguists worldwide, Syntacta has been run independently as a limited company by its two directors since 2010.

Krystyna Lenik of Syntacta translationKrystyna Lenik

Born to Polish parents who settled in the UK after the Second World war, Krystyna learned to speak Polish before speaking English.

At school she studied Spanish, Latin and French, and at university she studied Russian as part of a degree in Librarianship with Modern Foreign Language Studies. She describes her university placement in Moscow and Leningrad (St. Petersburg) at the height of Communism as memorable – empty shops and a plethora of spies!

Before joining Syntacta in 2002, Krystyna was editor of a research company’s international abstracts’ journal and database, which was so successful it was bought out by an American publishing company.

Agnes Emch of Syntacta translationAgnès Emch

A native French speaker, Agnès has studied English, German, Spanish, Latin and Greek and has lived in three European countries.

Her interest in foreign languages was sparked by a love of literature – as she says, there can be no better way to enjoy and appreciate a book than by being able to read it in the language in which it was originally written!

Agnès has a degree in Business from a French university, a BA (Hons) in Business Administration and an MA in Marketing. After leaving university she landed a dream job for a linguist and avid reader: scouring foreign press for a media monitoring company. Agnès has brought her language expertise to sectors as varied as advertising intelligence and software solutions before joining Syntacta in 2007.

Their knowledge of languages, varied experience, strong work ethic and professionalism has enabled them to build Syntacta into the reputable, trustworthy and reliable language service provider it is today.

Syntacta has been a Corporate Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting since 2000.
